Wolf in sheep's clothing
The Transformation of a Berlina
The unique Berlina was dubbed "Wolf in Sheep's Clothing" by the Alfamaster team, as this project lives up to its name. At first glance, the Berlina appears harmless and close to series production – but as soon as the engine speaks, it reveals its true nature.
209 HP full of character, aggressive roaring, and a sound that unmistakably demands respect. A true "Wolf in Sheep's Clothing" – outwardly subtle, but technically anything but tame. Under the hood lies a wild predator: a brutal, high-performance overall package with genuine character. The completely rebuilt 2.0-liter Twin-Spark engine, Weber 45 dual carburetors, freely programmable ignition control, racing headers, and the flow-optimized Alfamaster Airbox in GTA-style make this Berlina a vehicle with impressive performance, direct response, a distinctive sound, and true racing DNA.
The Berlina was the personal favorite of Alfamaster owner Gaetano Di Donna. Originally, it was meant to remain a classic Alfa Romeo sedan – but as the owner's vehicle of a company that develops its own Alfa Romeo racing and lightweight parts, things turned out differently. New ideas constantly arose during team breakfasts. Thus, further in-house developments and optimizations steadily flowed into the Alfamaster baby.
The chassis, steering, braking system, and axle geometry were also consistently revised. A widened front axle, Bilstein shock absorbers, Eibach sports suspension, Alfamaster lightweight spring perches, reinforced Alfamaster thrust rods, Alfamaster Premium Uniball reaction triangle, Alfamaster 35mm racing stabilizer, and the highly developed Alfamaster Burman steering gear ensure precision, stability, and a significantly more direct driving experience.
The body was rebuilt, revised, and painted in Toffee / Alfa Romeo Beige Cava. The gold-colored Biscione graphic on the hood is painted and sealed, while the central exhaust outlet and the high-quality stainless steel exhaust system underscore the special character of this vehicle.
In 2026, the vehicle was once again revised, repainted, and technically further optimized – ready for the next owner, as the Alfamaster team already has new ideas for the next special project.
A wolf in sheep's clothing – built with passion, experience, and the ambition to create something unique from a classic Berlina.
Engine Compartment & Technology
- Modified 2.0-liter Twinspark engine
- Freely programmable ECU for adjustable ignition timing
- Two Weber 45 dual carburetors
- Flow-optimized and ultralight Alfamaster Airbox in GTA style
Advantages: Improved airflow for spontaneous throttle response. Robust design – ideal for performance-oriented loads. Significant enhancement of engine compartment and intake system with functional racing character.
- Racing manifold
- Electronic fan control for water cooling retrofitted
- Electrics revised and modernized
Chassis & Steering
- Front axle widened by 50mm (30mm by modified Alfamaster wishbone joints for axle mounts, 20mm by spacers for track widening).
Advantages: Optimized geometry for better kinematics of the front axle. Ideal for lowering and/or modern, wider tires. Vehicle remains precise, predictable, and safe even at speed, cornering speeds, and rapid load changes.
- 2 degrees at the front axle (freely adjustable)
- Bilstein shock absorbers
- Alfamaster 35mm racing stabilizer (hollow construction, lightweight) with 30% stiffer spring rate than 29mm solid material. Designed with high torsional rigidity for a sporty overall chassis.
Advantages: Reduced body roll and supported more neutral steering behavior. Provides clear feedback at the limit.
- Eibach sports suspension with Alfamaster ultralight spring plates (1.5 kg lighter than original). Tested on a tensioning device with a large spring exceeding 5 tons, with a small spring in the middle exceeding 2.8 tons. Material strength / high-strength alloy: 900–1,000 N/mm².
- Reinforced Alfamaster lightweight thrust rod (1.5 kg lighter than original) incl. reinforced rubber bushing. Torsion tested on a tensioning device and identical to original. Material strength / high-strength alloy: 900–1,000 N/mm².
- Highly reinforced design Alfamaster Uniball reaction triangle made of high-strength aluminum with milled rubber bushing housing made of 7075 aluminum and reinforced rubber bushing. Racing look lightweight approx. 5kg compared to 8kg original. TOP values in load tests in a specially manufactured testing device. Loaded on both sides with up to 3 tons – without visible deformation and without changing the geometry.
Advantages: Improved rear axle guidance and more precise handling during load changes. More stability at the limit and better traction through more controlled axle movement.
- Further developed Alfamaster steering gear (Burman) with new, nitrided worm gear, new guide tube, new steering rod, and new steering wheel mount. New, one-piece cast housing – high-strength and reinforced. Uniquely developed high-tech cover with precise adjustment function according to ZF principle with simple, safe, and exact adjustment of steering play. Completely revised bearing with modern bearing technology: The original 3 cm brass bushing was replaced by a 6 cm long, high-strength needle roller bearing. The idler arm on the right side was built according to the same principle in terms of bearings.
Advantages: Reinforced and improved technology for higher load capacity and optimized force absorption. More precise implementation of steering movements, improved feedback, smooth straight-line stability, and stable handling. In addition, noticeably less effort is required when steering.
- Engine side wall in the steering area reinforced with Alfamaster stiffening plates (high-strength up to 15000 Nm).
