La Storia – Full Restoration of an Alfa Romeo 1900 C Super Sprint Touring

This Alfa Romeo 1900 C Super Sprint Touring, built in 1954, arrived with us in a sad state – partially disassembled, partly loose in boxes, partly damaged, unusable, and in some areas simply missing.

And yet – a dream project: The Alfa Romeo 1900 C Super Sprint Touring-Superleggera is one of the particularly rare and coveted post-war models. Only a few units of the 2nd series of the Touring Coupe were produced. Accordingly, the task of not only restoring this historic vehicle but also meticulously recovering its form, substance, and technical integrity was highly demanding.

The project “Capolavoro" (masterpiece) was born. Over several years, the bodywork was restored from the ground up – completely stripped of paint, carefully de-rusted, and sustainably protected by KTL coating. Numerous areas had to be rebuilt, adapted, and precisely reconstructed to their original lines.

The entire technical area, from mechanics and electrics to wiring and numerous small parts, was also thoroughly checked, overhauled, or rebuilt. Time and again, the project required patience and perseverance. Due to the small number of examples of this model, many parts were untraceable. The search became a challenging test of patience. Where no suitable components were available, custom-made parts were created with pure craftsmanship.

Every component was custom-fitted, checked, and integrated into the overall picture. What initially seemed like an almost unsolvable puzzle gradually became a complete, harmonious, and exceptional vehicle – Un Capolovaro.

This project stands for exactly what a true full restoration entails: patience, craftsmanship, deep understanding of historic coachbuilding, and the willingness to find solutions even when things seem hopeless. Please also watch our videos.
